The Mind-Body Connection – Is It Real?

Sometimes people come to me because they have a physical issue they are trying to resolve. In fact, that’s the first way I observed someone facilitating the process I use. Based on what I’ve observed in the past 15 years, my answer is yes. The mind-body connection is real. Stunningly so. It doesn’t surprise me anymore, but it is definitely awe-inspiring.

How did I begin?

People often ask me why I began working with subconscious beliefs, when most of my career was in IT management. I have a simple answer. I saw this work. My then-husband had a pain. His friend offered to help with that. His friends used lots of different alternative modalities, and I was always curious about what they were doing. This time was different – in less than five minutes, the pain was gone and it didn’t come back. And the process didn’t require the facilitator to interpret anything or physically move energy. It was quick, it worked, and it looked like something I could learn. The possibilities were limitless. I was hooked!

Pain or movement constriction issues.

I took all the possible workshops I could for this and started working with myself and others in 2011. Over the years, I’ve noticed that often things that involved a specific pain (like migraines or other localized pain) or issues with movement (unable to raise an arm higher than a shoulder, for instance) are resolved right then. It’s incredible proof to me of the mind-body connection, that something that is really painful or that has been present for quite a while can sometimes be resolved in minutes.

Chronic conditions.

Some conditions take longer, and may have more beliefs contributing to the situation. But most people understand that stress can cause inflammation and various “dis-eases”. Well, those subconscious beliefs are what cause the stress. If you can change the beliefs so that you stop experiencing stress, it stands to reason that the symptoms of stress will also go away. Maybe not immediately, but over a period of time.

What if you’ve been injured or had surgery?

Sometimes people come to me when an injury or surgery is causing pain and discomfort. What can changing a belief do about that, you may wonder. You can make sure that your subconscious beliefs are supportive of a fast and easy healing process. If you think it’s going to be hard to recover, it probably will be. So changing that belief can be helpful.

How do I approach the concern?

When people come to me about physical symptoms and conditions, I look for where beliefs are causing the issue or contributing to discomfort related to the condition. Sometimes if there’s chronic pain, people can become overwhelmed with that and with how they are limited in what they can do. I help transform those emotions into something more peaceful. Then I see if there are beliefs that are either causing the condition or making it worse, and we can replace those with beliefs that are more supportive of recovery and well-being.

How can I help you?

In my world, the body is like an instrument panel – physical symptoms are an indication that something needs to change. If you ignore it or treat only the symptom, your body will usually respond by either making the symptom worse or creating an additional symptom to try to get your attention. That mind-body connection is pretty incredible!
